NPR 50th Anniversary Illustration: KQED

Client | KQED, Michigan Public Radio (see below)
Role
| Design, vector illustration

National Public Radio’s 50th Anniversary ran a branded campaign that worked as the framework for our own affiliate station’s illustration I created that incorporated San Francisco Bay Area specific imagery like the California state flower and bird (golden poppy and quail, respectively), the Golden Gate Bridge and its ever-present fog (also known as “Karl”), and the hilly streets lined with colorful Victorian houses. The image was used for digital promotion, as well as printed on items like shirts and coffee mugs.

The good people of Michigan Public Radio saw and were impressed by what I had done for KQED, so they reached out to us hoping to get one of their own. I gladly obliged, and had a lot of fun researching and illustrating Great Lakes, Motown, and other Michigan-specific references to incorporate into their version.
