Logo Stingers

KQED’s main brand was getting its very first audio brand tone, and I had the good fortune of being the first to animate the logo to follow suit. The idea, which was informed by the mood and concept of the sound piece, was to echo the gentle, pensive building of multiple pieces converging to the crescendo of the logo, with the intention of symbolizing how the brand is built by and for the local community that it serves. This remains the official logo expression used on broadcast and digital video.

Check Please! Bay Area is a long running broadcast TV and digital video show in which Bay Area locals eat at local restaurants and candidly share their experiences with one another. I updated the legacy logo design to be more concise and streamlined than the previous version, and animated it for use in the show opener.

Film School Shorts was a series produced by KQED and PBS showcasing the best of short student films. For the 6th and final season of the series, I created this neon animated opener.

Above the Noise was a show produced in collaboration between KQED and PBS Digital Video geared toward teens and young adults, breaking down relevant topics and current events in fun, interesting and informative ways. I collaborated closely with their production team to create this logo stinger that was used as their official opening sequence.

KQED Join Campaign

To drum up excitement about starting or maintaining their existing KQED membership, we created this bright, energetic morphing animated broadcast spot using the portraits we had taken of our colleagues around the office. The result was a slight uptick in membership, and bragging rights for our work friends whose friends and family were able to see them on KQED’s TV and social channels.

KQED Vehicle Donation Program

In my early days at the station, I was tasked with creating a quick broadcast spot for a program in which people can donate their used or inoperable vehicles to KQED. I was given free creative license (with the exception of brand font and stripe motif), so I played with a flat, painterly morph animation style to make something a bit artistic and unexpected given the subject matter.
